These are highly compelling, world-first results visualizing the evolution of conduction properties in VO2-x materials in response to oxygen depletion. The stabilization energy of VO2-x counters further oxygen depletion, which ultimately leads to the formation of unique domain boundaries. These findings represent the very first observation of such domain boundaries.
